Farm Journal's Savory Sausage and Rice

Bear's Anecdote - A friend of mine from Huntsville, Alabama (Tim P. - It isn't good to give full names on the internet.) put me onto the Farm Journal's "Best Ever Recipes" book. He sent me a couple recipes. Here is the information on how to find the book on the web.

  1. Lightly brown sausage in Dutch oven.
  2. Pour off excess fat.
  3. Add celery, green pepper and onion.
  4. Saute until tender.
  5. Combine soup mix and boiling water in 3 qt sauce pan.
  6. Stir in rice.
  7. Cover and simmer 15 minutes or until rice is tender.
  8. Add rice mixture to sausage and stir well.
  9. Pour into greased 13x9x2-inch baking dish.
  10. Sprinkle with almonds.
  11. Drizzle with butter.
  12. Bake in 375 degree oven for 20 minutes or until hot.

Makes 10 servings.

Sounds like a good crock pot recipe.
