Bean Soup
- 1 - 16 oz bag great northern beans
- 1 - 32 oz low sodium chicken broth (or 2 teaspoons chicken granules mixed in 32 oz of water)
- diced ham (or 4 polish sausages, or bacon)
- about 8 cups of water
- sprinkling of Mrs. Dash garlic & herb seasoning
- 1 or more onions
- garlic
- cook the beans using the quick soak method
- combine the ingredients into the same pot used to soak the beans
- bring to a boil
- reduce heat and let simmer for an hour or until the beans are tender
"quick soak" method for beans:
- place beans in pot filled with water
- bring water to a boil
- cover, remove from heat and let sit for 1 hour
- drain and rinse
Note: this recipe works well in a crock pot
